On Thursday, February 20, the Bayview-Hunter’s Point community will launch the 2014, 3rd on Third season during Black History Month, celebrating the African Diaspora. 3rd on Third, a reference to the third Thursday of the month and the event location, Third Street, will feature a myriad of activities including a musical performance and procession hosted by the Bay Area’s own Gumbo Band in partnership with the Village Project and African songstress Fely Tchaco. There will also be a beer and wine garden, food crawl with bites representing the African Diaspora and Cyclecide rides, face painting and other activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
3rd on Third is supported by District 10 Supervisor, Malia Cohen, the San Francisco Arts Commission and Lennar Urban. The Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theatre is the presenting organization in collaboration with other community partners including the Bayview Merchants Association, B*Magic, The Village Project, the Bayview Underground Food Scene as well as community-based artists.
The fun kicks off at Third and Oakdale in Bayview at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Visit www.3rdonThird.com for details.
